Albion’s Premier League Season Comparison – 15 games

Albion not only earned a bonus point at Anfield but became the first away side to take anything away from that particular stadium so far this Premier League campaign and were the first side to record more shots on target than Liverpool in a match at Anfield since 2018. It also makes it three games unbeaten on the red side of Stanley Park for the Baggies.

For all the positive statistics from what was a fantastic result, Sam Allardyce’s task remains a huge one. This campaign’s team still have two fewer points than their next worse Premier League start in 2004/05 and the 1985/86 team’s record of six points from their opening fifteen games remains the only one worse than the class of 2020/21.

Looking for positive omens ahead of Tuesday’s game against Leeds United, only once have Albion failed to win their 16th game of a Premier League season when it has taken place at the Hawthorns. Middlesbrough, Manchester City, Newcastle United, Aston Villa and Swansea City have all been beaten in game 16 at the Hawthorns, while Portsmouth are the only team to go home with a point thanks to a 1-1 draw in 2008.

Then again, Albion have never won a Premier League game on a Tuesday….
